Despite the heavy camouflage, the 2012 Genesis Coupe prototype reveals the updated model will feature a set of new tail-lights and slightly redesigned rear bumper with revised tail-pipes. Furthermore, we can expect a restyled front fascia with updated headlamps -featuring LED daylights, slightly redesigned front bumper and more prominent signature grille.
Not much else is known about the 2012 Genesis Coupe, except of that the car will get more powerful engine and perhaps a brand-new 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Past reports suggest that the forth-coming Hyundai Genesis Coupe facelift will adopt the 2.0L GDI Turbo engine, which packs 274 horsepower. Such engine is already available in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo and its sibling model, the 2011 Kia Optima Turbo.
Another rumor says that the 2012 Genesis Coupe could also get a 5.0L V8 Tau engine, which has been just recently introduced in the 2012 Hyundai Genesis R-specs, however, it is more likely that Hyundai will upgrade the current 3.8L V6 powerplant with gasoline direct injection technology to gain some horsepower.
There's no official word on Hyundai Genesis Coupe facelift release date, but you can expect to see it making its official U.S. premiere towards the end of 2011, most probably at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
